| The People of the Riviera Maya of Mexico
Global Community Fellowship is engaged in ministering to four distinct people group living in the Riviera Maya of Mexico.
1. Mesitzo people - A person of mixed racial ancestry, mixed European and Native American ancestry. This group makes up about 80% of the people living in this part of Mexico . These Mexicans speak Spanish, many are learning some English as they work in the tourist industry.
2. Maya people - they are the largest indigenous group living in the area and they speak the Mayan language. Most of the young adults will have Spanish as a second language.
3. Cuban immigrates to Mexico - Thousands of Cubans have moved to this area over the last ten years. They speak Spanish and have a lot in common with the Mezitzo people but it is a distinctive culture group.
4. North Americas / Expats – English speakers living in Mexico .
